This place is like another world — an immersive combination of off-grid natural beauty, ethics and intentionality that I’ve never seen elsewhere. The food is consistently top notch. The hot springs are well maintained and there is an amazing variety of ways to soak & experience them. I stayed in the Milky Way, the converted semi truck which is the cheapest way to visit overnight, and it’s tiny and rustic (I loved it), but in case that deters you, do NOT think that all you’re paying for here is the lodging space — it’s the grounds, the springs, the food, the ethos, the opportunities for spiritual centering if that’s your interest, the optional talks and classes, and the unparalleled welcome. Perfect place to do a self-directed writing or spiritual retreat. They are also very trans friendly in proactive ways. One of the most body-positive spaces I can think of.
Driving into Breitenbush I could only imagine how wonderful and beautiful it must’ve been before the fire. They didn’t stop the amazing beauty and friendship the facility shows and gives once you arrive. The Groves are wonderful little sleeping, quarters that set a mood of relaxation and comfortability. The lodge and the staff is amazing. Some of the best vegan and vegetarian food I’ve ever experienced for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I would recommend these hot springs to anybody he’s looking for rejuvenation and a reset of positive energy.
Love it here. My partner and I have gone twice this year and it’s a great way for us to relax from our busy lives and decompress. We have stayed in the new cabin which was simple but cozy and it stayed toasty with the geothermal heat. On our second visit we camped at one of the bring your own tent sites which was next to a beautiful meadow that was great for star gazing at night. Service was great, food was yummy and healthy. My partner particularly liked the vegan ranch and I’ve been trying to recreate it at home for him to no avail. Their facilities were very clean and I noticed them cleaning the pools frequently. We will be back again soon!
If you are a nudist, love bland over-priced food, and over-hearing the most vapid boring conversations on the planet, then you will LOVE Breitenbust! I get more relaxation and less judgement doing bong hits on my back porch. This place is gross on every level. One trip was one too many.
I wouldn't recommend this business. I left more exhausted then refreshed due to their poor customer service, lack of amenities and inflated price.
Update: The business has responded, but instead of addressing the issues, they are making baseless assumptions about my grievances being related to other guests, which is entirely untrue. To clarify, the problem was not noise from other guests but rather the consistently poor customer service from all staff members I interacted with, coupled with the lack of amenities despite staying in a queen suite, and an exorbitant price tag of approximately $500 for just two nights. This supposed spa retreat felt more like a camping experience gone wrong.
When I requested a trash bag for the queen suite I paid for, the staff's response was dismissive and mocking. Celebrating my birthday with my boyfriend, we found ourselves playing card games in the main lodge during a snowfall. When I inquired about starting a fire for a cozy atmosphere, the staff treated it as an inconvenience. The person who checked us in saw us during their smoke break and casually mentioned not completing necessary paperwork during our check-in that they forgot to do.
Navigating the unlit pathways at night was challenging, and the staff's indifference added to the overall unpleasant experience. The somber and rude attitude of the staff was consistent throughout. The total cost for this subpar experience, amounting to around $500 for just two nights, was unjustified. Everything within the facilities, from the low-pressure showers to the absence of trash bags in our suite, felt disappointingly cheap.
Notably, the spa even charged $3 per towel, adopting a subscription-based model for something as basic as towel usage at a spa. Ironically, there was a basket in the lobby with towels left by guests for free use, but they were visibly dirty and stepped on in the mud. This neglect raises concerns about hygiene, potentially exposing users to health risks such as staph contamination.
This was my first trip to Breitenbush Hot Springs Retreat and it was my last.
Hadn’t stayed overnight for 5 years. Lots of changes since the fire 2019. The new cabins in The Grove are warm and very comfortable. The view will improve once vegetation returns. The spiral tubs, sauna, meadow pools and private bath tubs are all wonderful. Food was great. Staff was helpful and friendly. The evening programs were a plus: yoga, historic talk and intuitive tarot. I leave feeling rested and revived. Thank you, Brietenbush, for surviving!
Absolutely magical stay for my first trip to Breitenbush. Extremely well maintained, with comfortable and very simple accommodations, a lovely old lodge, and gorgeous surroundings. Managed to catch it through one of the biggest snowfalls on record and it was an unforgettable experience.
I could not recommend this place enough! The stuff is amazing, the food is delicious, and the energy is outstanding 🤩. I have one of the best weekends. It is definitely an opportunity to disconnect from the outside world and reconnect with nature and yourself. Do yourself a favor and book a night or two!! You won't regret it :) …
Overall, I really like Breitenbush: the scenery, the hot springs, the delicious food, kind people. Been coming for the past 15 years. …
Women’s quiet weekend— I arrived by myself for some recovery and soul healing. I pitched my own tent in a very quiet spot. Only 3 others in the BYOT area. …
